Lexapro and birth defects

I was wondering if anyone has heard of Lexapro causing birth defects if the male is taking the Lexapro?  My husband has been taking Lexapro for sometime and his primary care physican instructed him to stop taking in b/c we are trying to get pregnant.  I was just looking for some facts to confirm this.  Thanks

This is something I would research and consult with the docs about.  We are learning more and more about these medications and one needs to stay up on all the precautions, as they change constantly.  Plus, PC docs aren't as knowlegeable as a psychiatrist on these meds.  Often your best resource can be your pharmacist.

Google it.  I think most docs would say caution would be in order for any of the brain affecting meds, but they usually talk about the pregnant female.
