HIV anxiety

Hello all,

I had safe anal sex with a guy the other night, he told me he was HIV positive, and reassured me it was fine as long as we were safe. I did however have his penis in my mouth for a couple of seconds before he told me this.

This is the first situation like this that I have been in (being in sexual contact with someone who definitely has HIV), and I am feeling extremely anxious about it despite the fact that I know my chances of being in contact with the virus are extremely slim.

We used a condom, he did not ejaculate, the condom was checked afterward, we used lubrication, I only had oral contact with his penis briefly before asking him to put on a condom.

Can someone please reassure me, or tell me how I should be feeling in this situation? I don't want to be going out of my mind for the next 3 months before I can have an accurate test back. I also do not want to sound like I am disregarding anyone who has HIV, I am just feeling very anxious right now.

Thank you all.

As you were told in the HIV Prevention Community by Vance, datman and, most especially, Teak............you had NO RISK. And that INCLUDES the few brief seconds of oral sex.
There are no "if, ands or buts!" You had no risk and you do not need to be tested.

As you saw over on the HIV Prevention Community, there are thousands of people posting questions, questions filled with fear, asking if their actions have put them at risk for HIV.
On this forum, we get many of these same people who just can't accept that they had no risk and we try to reassure them that they've gotten the truth from the HIV folks, we try to help them with their anxiety, which is often not very successful because they have a million "But what if," questions.
The best, and really the ONLY way there will EVER be an end to the paranoia, fear and anxiety surrounding HIV is through education about HIV.
This is NOT aimed at only one sector of society, it is aimed at EVERYONE who engages in non-manogamous sex.

With the most up to date education about HIV available to everyone in many local venues, no one would EVER have to worry about their status again because you would know, you would have the education to assess your risks, to make the right choices, to end so much of the fear and mystery surrounding this virus.
