Hi AM..........welcome to our forum.
I wish I could give you an answer that would help you decide, but we cannot give you that kind of specific advice. The decision on which med to take, or not take any, should only be made between you and your doctor. If you read through some posts here, you will find people saying Paxil is the best and others who say Paxil is the worst......same for Celexa. You can base your decision on your past experience with Paxil. If it helped you and the side effects were tolerable, your best choice may be to go with something you're familiar with. Or you can try the Celexa...........I'd do some research on both meds, using reliable sources like the Mayo or Cleavland Clinics, and educate yourself about each of them. You can then talk to your doctor on a more level playing feild.
If YOU think you'd benefit from some type of med, but hesitate to use pharmaceuticals, I'd suggest going to our Complimentary Medicine Forum and talk with Paxil and the folks there for some options.
The third thing you could do is get into some therapy and quite possibly you wouldn't need meds at all. Many people find the talk therapy to be enough. I would just urge you to keep an open mind about medication. It can be a great adjunct to therapy.
You may get quite a few resposes from folks who thinks these specific medications are horrible and you should avoid them at all cost. Please remember that we all react to medications differently and just because they had a negative reaction does not mean YOU will.
I wish you the best
Peace
