My daughter has been throwing up in the mornings since she was 5 and she is now 11. We go for weeks or sometimes, if we're lucky, for months without any problems. She will usually wake up in the morning and throw up for several hours and is usually back to her normal self by lunchtime. We've noticed this does not usually occur during the summer or on the weekends. She's been through numerous tests, including ultrasounds, upper GI, two endoscopies, blood work, you name it. The gastro doctor rules it as Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS). Usually her vomiting is only for a day and then we go for weeks or months until the next episode. However, this past time, she has been having episodes at least 4 days out of every week for the past month. I know she has two teachers that are causing her stress and she's trying to avoid them. I've talked to the principal and am trying to set up conferences with these teachers. What scares me is that she will encounter stressful people and situations for her entire life and it's now that she needs to learn the tools to handle this. I have scheduled her an appointment with a psychiatrist in a couple of weeks and hopes that talking it out and possibly medication could help. She repeatedly tells me that she's not stressed. But when the physical tests come back with nothing and stress is a contributing factor to CVS, then I can't help but to think she's just a very stressed-out child. My oldest daughter shows no signs of this and other than normal stress, my daughter with the vomiting problem has not undergone anything traumatic.
