Panic attack lastnight

I just had a panic attack out of this world. It started with an uneasy feeling about around 1am couldn't go to sleep racing thoughts were running through my head then about 4:45am I went to the bathroom and a sudden dizziness that felt so weird, thought I was going crazy. When I got back to bed it got worst. It got so bad that I had to wake up my wife. Then I start feeling this tingling sensation through my hands and feet, tip of my fingers were a bit numb, then my heart started to beat incredibly fast. I thought I was going to die. But it only lasted for two or three minutes. I'm fine now, heart back to it's normal rate but I just can't fall asleep lol.

Thanks that is great advice, and I get it, if u sit around without trying to work at something it will get out of hand but if u work at it every now and then u can keep it under good control. Great advice thanks again

I am glad that you are going back to therapy.  I believe that it will help you tremendously.  For me, when I went back, it provided that extra motivation to deal with it once again.  I also continue to go to group counseling about once a month even though I don't believe that anxiety is a huge part of my life right now.  I find that if I 'maintain' my awareness of it, it helps keep it at bay and by going every month or so, I can also help others as well as be aware of anxiety creeping back into my life.  I kind of look at anxiety like I do running.  If I stop for an extended period of time and try to start back up then it may seem like an impossible task...I believe we lose our conditioning if we don't 'practice' on a regular basis, so don't be too hard on yourself if the anxiety returns.  You do, however, have the knowledge and experience to confront it and that is a huge advantage in my opinion...keep us posted!

From your other posts, I realize that the last few days have been stressful for you. Have you practiced relaxation exercises, worked out and thought about entering therapy?

Have you been under a lot of stress lately?  Have you been experiencing anxiety recently or in the past?  In my experience, panic attacks can occur when we are about to or are sleeping.  When I initially went through this, I would have them at night sometimes.  If this is currently an ongoing problem or you have had these in the past, have you sought help for it?  For me, just learning about it through talking it over with someone helped me to understand it and confront it...keep us posted!
