Please help. Will I have to wait another 6-8 weeks for my Zoloft to start working after switching from Lexapro?

My doctor switched me from 30 mg of lexapro to 150 mg zoloft a week ago because the lexapro wasn't working.  I had my first anxiety attack about 6 weeks ago.  Subsequently, I dropped into deep depression and continued having anxiety almost daily.  Several years ago zoloft worked very well for me for depression.  I never had anxiety before.  I know they are both SSRIs, but are different chemicals.  My concern is that I will have to suffer for another 6-8 weeks before the zoloft kicks in.  Can anyone help reduce my concerns?  Also, my doctor tells me the zoloft will work for the anxiety and depression.  Does anyone have experience with this they could share?  Thanks in advance.

I felt like I was spiraling down on the lexapro so he said it wasn't working and told me I needed to try something else.  He had me on lexapro for six weeks and had upped it from 20mg to 30mg already as you suggested.  After a week or so on 30mg, I began to get much worse.

why did your doctor switch you so fast? Normally they up the mgs to see if it works well. And with most people on lexapro the doctor played with the mgs to see if it worked. I have been on every med out there for anxiety and depression and by far...... lexapro worked the best after getting my mgs right, but i have to admit it was rough in the begining. I would think the zoloft should kick in in 2 weeks or so. Good Luck

My Dr. switched me from Lexapro to Effexor a few years ago and there was no waiting in between for the effexor to kick in. Then I was switched from Effexor to cimbalta and back to Lexapro. I never had to wait for the new meds to start working.
