Lexapro and Xanax

All,

Hoping for a bit of advice and to hear about your individual experiences.

My psychiatrist prescribed a 30 day prescription of Xanax (extended release - 1 MG).  This has very much helped my anxiety at present.

Additionally he prescribed 10 mg of Lexapro.

I noticed that I am sleepy (yawning like crazy) after starting these therapies on Saturday.  The problem is I don't know which one is causing the sleepiness.

Do you think i should take the Lexapro at night instead of hte morning (since I believe it may be the lexapro causing the tiredness).

Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

I just don't understand what's up with doctors these days not explaning possible side effects to their patients. You should have had the answer to these questions before you left his office!
You began both meds this past week-end and are yawning like crazy. DOH! Let me write down a few side effects that BOTH meds have in common..............

Fatigue
Drowsiness
Insomnia
Sedation
Apathy

Still wonder why you're yawning so much?

These particular side effects normally go away once your body has adjusted to these meds. If they should remain a problem, obviously you need to speak with your doctor. As long as you aren't falling asleep at the wheel, I'd give it a couple weeks, but still strongly advise letting your doctor know what is going on and getting his/her qualified advice. Only your doctor can change your dosing schedule.
Best of luck
Peace
