Severe Anxiety, please help!

About a month ago I was sitting at my mothers house and I started to feel this serious adrenaline rush. I felt like I couldn't sit down. Shortly after my heart started to beat faster, it was much harder to breathe and I lost feeling in my fingers. I can't fully explain this experience because it was one of the most terrifying of my life. It lasted about 20 minutes. After it stopped I just figured I might have just been allergic to something I ate so I brushed it off as nothing.

The next day I was out to eat with my boyfriend and some friends and the same exact thing happened except much more terrifying and worse. I was in a car sitting in the passengers seat, loud music blasting and I just pretended that I was okay because I was so embarrassed.

My boyfriend quickly caught on so I explained to him that I didn't know what was going on with me. I had never had any sort of "Panic Attack" before. My anxiety levels got much worse. When I wasn't having these sort of panic attacks I was worrying about when I would have my next one. Finally I decided to seek medical attention when my resting heart rate was 120 BPM. They hooked me up to an EKG and found absolutely nothing, the doctors diagnosed me with Tachycardia and refereed me to a heart doctor the next day. I wore a holter monitor for 24 hours and followed up with my family doctors just as they told me to. My doctor told me that the results showed that I have an abnormal heart rhythm or heart palpitations. She ordered the blood work and everything came back normal so it wasn't anything serious with my body that was causing this.

She then prescribed me to Clonazepam. .5 MG as needed daily. These did wonders for me when I first got on them, I had less panic attacks, I felt relaxed but that shortly stopped working. I started to take more of them and when I finally came to terms with the fact that I was abusing my medication I called my doctor and asked her what else I should do instead because this wasn't working.

She put me on lexapro on top of the Clonazepam. I haven't seen much of a result of the lexapro but I have only been on it for about two weeks. My doctor has now taken me off the Clonazepam which has been making me feel like complete crap. I've had alot of break through anxiety and a constant headache, probably from the withdrawal. She has decided to put me on BuSpar on top of the Lexapro.

Is anyone on these two medications together? Are the any side affects I should be worried about? My only concern is if it will work or not. My anxiety has gotten so bad that it has completely jailed me from my daily life. I feel as if i'm living in a bubble and I can't escape it at all. I'm always in fear.

I'm in desperate need of answers, advice, anything at this point that will help me. Also, are there any home remedies I can do to help lower my anxiety? I've heard of breathing and all that stuff but anything else?

Please help! :(

That is so crazy because I haven't been hungry at all lately and it's causing me to get stomach aces, especially after I do eat something. I've lost almost 10 lbs since the lexapro, which is weird because it's supposed to make you gain weight.

I don't know why your doctor made you quit Klonopin cold turkey. My guy always tells me that any Benzo must be tapered off very slowly, sometimes over months. Anyway, if you really feel that bad, why don't you ask her for a fast acting benzo for the time being, so that you feel a little better? Oh, and Lexapro did nothing for me except put me off my food completely: the ONLY antidepressant that works for me is Sertraline. Since it serves as a very efficient anxiolytic in high doses, it is perfect for mixed anxiety/depression.
Just stay away from the antipsychotic anxiolytics. They made me live in hell for about a month.
Get well soon :-)

Valerian, which is an herb might help.  So might benedryl but they can make you very sleepy. I have been able to escape into reading sometimes, but not always.  I've been suffering from severe anxiety for about 9 years now.  I feel your pain. Good luck, and mesage me if I can help further.

She didn't taper me off it at all. I had to quit cold turkey so it's been really hard the last few days.

I would'nt combine any natural remedies to your prescription meds. It sounds like you are going through some withdrawals on top of your body getting used to the Lexapro. I take it and when I first started I had terrible headaches. Try and give this med about 6 weeks. If you don't see any improvement then it's probably time to try some thing else. It can be hit and miss with antidepressants so don't give up. Did your Dr just have you quit taking your anti anxiety med or did she taper you off it? What dose of Lexapro are you taking? Try to hang in there, okay. It can take a few weeks for the meds to build up in your system.  Remar
