Should I take medicine for my anxiety?

I can get very anxious at times. I can get anxious at the thought of being around people, something as simple as walking past someone can frighten me. Shopping at the store. Meeting new people. Even speaking something like an opinion on the internet can drive me on edge, same as speaking in person in public as well. Just a lot of excessive anxiety, it seems that I have. And it takes over my life. I hate it, so much. I get scared. And I overthink a lot of small conversations and actions that I did in front of others. Everyday.
I see a therapist and I plan on bringing this up to her. Maybe she'll have me get on meds.

A psychologist can evaluate how bad your problem is and whether he or she thinks you need medication.  I think the question boils down to, how badly is your condition affecting your life?  If it's so severely disrupted that you can't function well, that's when medication is appropriate.  If you're still functioning okay then try other avenues first, given that medication is not risk free.  In simple terms, if you need it to live, you need it; if you don't, you don't.  Make sure your therapist specializes in anxiety treatment, because most of them don't.
