Sleepwalk caused by zolpidem?is it real or only a dream?

Hi All, I had suffered from general anxiety before, and had received medical treatments for around 3-4 years. Now it has been one and half year since I quit all the anti-anxiety drugs like Paxil as well as the sleeping pills. I felt not bad during the past year without taking any medicine, my sleeping was also fine!

But these days I have mild insomnia again, so I took the sleeping pills for a good sleep. I took half of the stilnox (zolpidem) tablet, say 5 mg per night for total 3 nights. Something happened last night, I dreamed I had some kind of sex with a unknown woman (maybe commercial sexual worker), my anus rubbed with hers. Also I dreamed I had called my friend for the something with my work. It was clear, as if they are not dream but the reality.

When I woke up in the morning and got up, I felt so scared! I am not so sure if my memory is just a dream or the reality? Because there are reports said the Stilnox (zolpidem) may cause the sleepwalk to some people and they will do something they are never aware of when they are in sleepwalk.

This scared me! That is terrible! I worry about I really had any kind of Unprotected sex with a prostitute which may impose the risk of HIV/STD infection to me.

So I contact with my friend for a check, he told me I had never called him in the morning or last night. Well, calling my friend is only a dream. But what about having sex with an unknown woman? Was it a dream or reality?

I double checked my cloth, the door in my house, and my key of car. Everything is still where I put them before I went to bed last night, nothing abnormal. The door still is double locked (up & down), And my car is parked in my yard in good position together with my neighbor's, looks like nobody had ever used it last night.

So, could you help to analysis that my fear about having unprotected sex with prostitute in my memory is only a dream or it do happened in my sleepwalk?

In reality, I would never have an unprotected sex with any unknown woman or prostitute.

I hope it would rather a dream, not reality!

Thank you!

Ambien can do some wonky things. People are known to sleep drive, sleep walk, sleep cook, sleep eat etc. You likely didn't do those things if you find no evidence of such but it is a clear warning that ambien may not be compatible with you. Let your doc know of your experience.

I added that I lived in out town, and I have to drive a car to go to the downtown if I want to meet any prostitute.

I just doubt, if I really had sleep-driving, how could I drive the car back home very well without any car accident and parked it very well? Sounds incredible.
