Did your Dr recommend cognitive behavioral therapy along with the drugs. My experience is that the drugs masked the anxiety. A therapist will address irrational thinking, a lot of anxiety is self-inflicted and can be deflected. I wouldn't go anywhere without a Xanax in my pocket. After a year of living like that, I went to a therapist and learned to deal head on with the symptoms. For example... ceiling fans would give me a vertigo feeling panic and IBS would set in, neon lights flickering--same thing. I literally had to stare at these items and self talk.. it's only a fan light etc.... sounds pretty whacked now.. but the sensations were very real back then. You have to desensitize yourself to the trigger. Once you trained yourself to not panic and its ago.. it will go away.
Hmm...well, treatment success varies-I hear good success with Xanax-but if your doctor says yes, you should try
I have social anxiety too, it's bad enough where I don't want to hang out w/ friends thinking they might stop being my friends due to my shyness, I never ate in the cafeteria, and I'm afraid of having a job and starting college...because of the people-it's horrible
not sure if you're the same, but just felt like getting it out there heh
Best Wishes
