Will this anxiety ever end?

I have suffered with anxiety for as long as I can remember. I was prescribed 20mg tablets of Lexapro to "help" my anxiety, but all it did was make me detached, shaky, suicidal, and manic. I only took Lexapro for three weeks, and I'm on my second day without it. All I can think of now is why I should keep fighting this anyways. I went to therapy, but I lost motivation so now I just think I'm wasting my therapists time. Will this pain ever end, or will I have to do so myself?

I do apologize, my doctor prescribed me 10mg of Lexapro, not 20mg. I called into the office and was ordered off of the Lexapro due to the side effects I was experiencing. I know it works out for a lot of other people, but I guess I wasn't one of them.

Please do not give up!  I'm not sure why your doctor prescribed you 20 mg of Lexapro right off the bat.  That is too much to start.  Lexapro has served me well for a long time.  Unfortunately it has stopped working for me and my anxiety is back with avengance.  I'm now on to try Effexor.  Just because Lexapro didn't work for you doesn't mean that another one won't.  Talk to your doc about a different med.  And go slowly on the next one.  Don't let your doc start you out so high next time.  Good luck!
