Is the 16th when you see your cardio again? Not to contradict what titan said, but it was no doubt a lab tech that did the echo and they are not allowed (nor are they qualified) to give you any kind of DX. Your scan will be sent to a cardiologist who will interpret what it shows and send the report to YOUR cardio. Same with the blood work........it all takes time. When we are anxious about our health and have to wait for results, it's pure hell. But there is nothing we can do except deal with the wait as best we can. The 16th will be here soon and you'll have your answers, which I'm sure are going to be all negative!
I am also waiting for some results, so we're in the same leaky canoe! I've named MY canoe "Anxiety Maru!"
You hang in there, toots!
You'll be fine!
Let us know the minute you do!
Peace

I'm surprised they can't give you the results from your echo right when you had it done, because usually the doctor can tell right away. As for the chest pains, this can 100 % be caused by anxiety and believe it or not, left arm pain can be 100 % caused be anxiety as well. When you have a panic attack, something happens with your calcium and it gets pushed in to the left arm, which is what my cardiologist told me, and he's a good source considering he went to Duke med, he's a pretty smart guy. Don't worry about the results, I'm sure everything will be fine. When you get the results trust in them and don't go for other tests. Good luck and God bless
they just did the echo and blood work dont find out anything till the 16TH!!!!!!
Think very hard about this question. What happened three weeks ago when you had your first anxiety attack? Where were you? What were you doing? Who were you with? How were you feeling "in general" and how were you feeling about the "who", "what" and "where" portion of this question? Might seem kind of silly, but since it was such a short time ago that you had your first attack, you're in the perfect position to really pin-point exactly what triggered the attack.
You have many common symptoms of anxiety/panic, but I am very glad to hear you are seeing a cardiologist soon. You do need to have your doctor rule out any organic reason for these symptoms. If your heart is fine, which I'm sure it will be, then you are more than likely going to go home with a DX of anxiety/panic. My advice then would be to get yourself hooked up with a good therapist and begin delving into what brought this sudden anxiety into your life.
As far as what tests your cardio will order will depend on his initial exam. He could order any number of tests, one of which would be a stress test. He might order a scan, he will certainly order blood work. Since you say you are leaning towards hypochondria, please stay off all the "symptom websites!" You will only increase your anxiety tenfold. You will be seeing your doctor in three days........just do the very best you can to relax until then. Keep busy. Spend time doing enjoyable things with your friends. Talk to your best friend or your parents or someone, anyone you really trust about your fears. If you're keeping all of this bottled up inside, that's no good. Talking to us here will help. You might also go over to the heart rhythm forum and talk with the wonderful folks there. They understand a great deal about heart issues AND the fear that goes along with them.
Please let us know what your cardio tells you, OK?
I know how lame it sounds, but try to relax.
You're gonna be just fine!
Peace
