Zoloft 12.5 mg

Has anyone experience a side effect of increase in anxiety after the first dose, or am I just a medphobic?

I have been on and off Zoloft over the years.  While it is successful for me, people react to medications in different ways.  I know that whenever I adjust dosage (per the Doc's instructions), I do notice certain side effects to include increased anxiety.  Just remember that we are already nervous about taking them in the first place, so at least in my experience, I probably noticed much more even if it was related to the medication or not.  After about 2-3 weeks, I usually notice that my body has 'adjusted.'  Keep us posted!

My dr starting me on low dose to decrease the side effects. I take zoloft a night because I'm afraid it will make sleepy. Today after taking my second dose  I'm very naurous. Is that common and if so what can I take that will help.

Yes, that's common.

If you experience significant side effects, you can always ask your doctor to start out at a lower dose, and work your way up.  Doing that usually significantly reduces the severity of side effects.

I started Zoloft yesterday. 50 mgs for first week. My pupils are huge! Anyone else have that happen? I did have increased anxiety today and felt funny. But I'm going strong.

That is a fairly common side effect, however, you're definitely hyper focused with the Zoloft. How long have you been taking it?

Like I told you before, you're going to have to try very hard to keep yourself busy and distracted, otherwise, your anxiety will continue to be through the roof about the Zoloft.

Look at it this way, there's a very good chance that Zoloft may help you tremendously.  Side effects are usually only temporary.  To me, it was definitely a worthy trade off.

Yes Sophie, I had the exact same experience. It was enough to cause me to bail on taking them after one pill, rightly or wrongly. Probably wrongly. Everything I've read and heard is that the increased anxiety goes away after a couple of weeks or so. You can also try the "start low, go slow" approach which is starting with half or even a quarter of a pill for a few days, then gradually transition to a little more, then eventually to a whole pill. Also, your doctor can prescribe a long-acting benzo to counter the increased anxiety while your body adjusts to the Zoloft. Good luck!
