I Cant sleep when there is no light out because

I can be REALLY REALLY tired to where my eye's try and close. But for some reason I feel like someone or something is going to get me. I feel like someone is standing outside my window just waiting for me to get up so they can hurt me and not even in a physical way, maybe even mentally. Idk I need help with this but am afraid to tell anyone until I know its more then me being dumb. I am 16 and this has just started recently, it used to be that for about a year I couldn't fall asleep till about 5 a.m. just because I couldn't. Now I cant sleep because of what I just described but I can't fall asleep till the sun is up. If anyone knows why or what I can do to help please help

Hello and welcome to the Anxiety Community!

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this, but rest assured we're here to help.  You're among people who know all about anxiety.  We all may have anxiety with different characteristics, but we've all experienced some level of discomfort and fear (which is what anxiety is, in a nutshell).

The good news is, there is a lot of help out there.  You  are very wise and perceptual.  When you stated  "Idk I need help with this but am afraid to tell anyone until I know its more then me being dumb"...it shows that you recognize that you need help, and YOU know YOU better than anyone does.

I realize that admitting this kind of thing and explaining this to someone feels embarassing and strange, but trust me, there is no shame in asking for help with this.  You need to confide in a parent or other trusted adult, who can have you evaluated by a professional. This may be nothing more than some stress that will pass, but it also may be some more significant anxiety, and recognizing an issue early on is better.  Hey, if it is nothing, that's super, and no one is harmed by you getting checked out.  Also, if you are dealing with some anxiety, you can get the help you need, like therapy.

If there was an official diagnosis of "Creepedoutitis", I'd say you have it.  Just from what you describe, it sounds like a creeped out feeling, much like you get after watching a scary movie.  Talk to an adult and ask for help.  You've obviously been dealing with this, and kind of have been waiting for it to go away.  You're very perceptive to realize that since it hasn't, there may be some things to look into.

We're here for you....please update us and let us know what is going on.  I'm glad you found us.
