anxiety or heart problem?

I am having daily chest pain (kind of like you'd feel if you run a 1/4 mile as fast as you can in cold weather), and shortness of breath that causes my limbs to feel numb sometimes and I get dizzy.  I almost passed out a couple weeks ago.  I'm also sweating unusually.  I have a history of depression and anxiety, but never anything like this.  I take a xanax on rare occasions, but the last couple weeks have almost brought me to the ER.  Had normal blood tests and EKG.  I'm a 33 yr. old woman who isn't overweight.  My job is very stressful, but I wonder if stress can cause symptoms this severe on a daily basis?  Even when I'm not thinking about something stressful?  Thanks

My husband has been having shortness of breath and dry throat especially after eating. He's been having this for months now and it's basicall controlling his life. He's not able to eat......and is hard for him to have a good meal because of this problem. It's to a point where he has to go to the ER because of this. The Dr. could not diagnose anything. If anyone who has this problem and has a cure or a diagnose for whatever this thing he has, please...please...contact me by my e-mail. Thank You!!! Km_kieu76***@****

Hey,

Sounds anxiety related...again I'm not a doctor either.  Stress can cause a lot of anxiety symptoms, (chest pain, numbness, feelings of fainting) and you've already had some tests like your BP and the EKG, which were normal...see your doctor and ask for just a check up, tell them about your chest pain stuff and they might order more tests....however I also have suffered with anxiety over my heart and there has been absolutly nothing wrong :)  I doubt there is anything wrong with you as well.

Stress and anxiety can cause almost anything, even if you don't feel nervous.  It certainly can cause the symptoms you've listed.  The fact that you had normal blood tests and a normal EKG is a very good sign.  Very good.  It's probably not your heart.  I'm no doctor, but if the problem continues much longer, I'd go back to the doctor and maybe mention a check for diabetes.  And maybe right now, you need the Xanax on a daily basis.  In fact, the problem could be that you're taking Xanax occasionally.

I hope you feel better and I wish you all the best.
