I suffered for many of my childhood years not knowing what anxiety was or that I had it. In 2012 I was put on cipralex. 5mg, then, 10mg, then 20mg. I took it for a year, felt good, and then stopped (weaned off). Ever since then I have had MAJOR ups and downs. And honestly I think the medication did more harm than good in the long run. I have even had a panic attack since then. Times where I think I'm going crazy, I'm going to collapse, faint, lose my mind. To be honest with you, don't ever take medication for anxiety and depression. There is ALWAYS an underlying cause/s. When you find it you will be pleasantly relieved almost instantaneously. Good luck! I hope you get well. Just remember that anxiety is caused by chemical imbalances which causes the brain to change. And just like how the brain changed to cause anxiety, there are things you can do that will REVERSE the brain (brain will physically morph into a different state - that sustains happiness and peace).
Schedule another visit with your doctor. It may be best to take a daily medication that will cut your anxiety levels down, such as a generic form of Lexapro.
