anxious and pregnant

I am 38 years old and 4 and half months pregnant with my first baby. Before getting preg. I was taking 20 mg of fluoxetine once a day. When I first found out I was preg. i stopped. I recently experienced panic attacks and my doctor prescribed the same medication. Is it safe for my unborn child? I am very concerned please advise me!

Well I took it when I was PG. And was taking it for the last 6 months or so. BUT then we decided to try and get pregnant again so I started looking it up as far as what it does. And  found a few things that said it can cause the lungs not to mature right or something. And my son had to have his lungs inflated when he was born. BUT he was also 2.5 weeks early. Which COULD have caused that too. BUT I decided to STOP taking it just in case. Oh and my son is COMPLETELY healthy NO health issues at all. Just an FYI

I don't know which doctor told you to continue taking the fluoxetine, but the ONLY doctor who should be prescribing meds for you right now is your OB/GYN.
I am not a doctor, so I have no idea if this drug is harmful for your baby or not, my drug books just state that if pregnant or if you plan to become pregnant, to see your OB immediately. I think you are right to be concerned.
I wish you and your baby the very best
