Hypochondria is a pain the backside, but it does pass if you take the right steps to change the cognitive part of the disorder. That's where it all begins.

Something that I've observed from my own minor bouts of hypochondriasis, is that many people who have it always are hypersensitive to their own sensations, any little pain or ache, or twinge, prick or different feeling and they immediately invoke "catastrophe" style thinking, they then being associating the pain or feeling to something deadly, or terrible in nature and then they begin to go into "resolution mode" where they go online and being searching for what could be the cause of these symptoms and then they come across something that fits their fear: Something catastrophic. They read and relate all their feelings (which in reality are just benign, occasional pains) and begin to associate them with a disease or illness of some sort. Then, the cycle begins - all the anxiety comes up, which has its own symptoms which aren't always pleasant, but in the brain of a hypochondriac they are magnified, they are horrible, unbearable and they begin to think the classic "something must be wrong with me" line that has come to mind a time too many.

The first thing I would suggest you stop doing, is do NOT Google everything you feel. If you have hypochondria, thus you find yourself fretting over irrational fears about your health, you can pretty much realize that you don't have a disease but a ridiculous mental glitch about your own health. Some people have coined the term "cyberchondria" because the wonderful internet is full of information about illnesses. Hypochondriacs use the internet in the wrong way, instead of typing in something like "symptoms of hypochondria" or "hypochondria behaviors" they go to the extreme and search for organic disorders, chronic diseases and everything else. All it does is cause them more distress over absolutely nothing.

Hypochondria causes a lot of individuals who have it to think black and white: It is either one extreme or the other, can't be anything in between. Hypochondriacs suffer from somatic anxiety, that is most likely what lights them off in the first place. They feel something different in themsevles that day, or they just don't feel quite right. Somatic anxiety is anxiety spurred off by physical arousal, for example - say one morning you get out of bed and stand up quickly, you get a bit lightheaded, this sets you off on an anxiety attack thinking something is wrong you, maybe a pulmonary or cardiac problem? The anxiety intensifies the symptoms, and you are sure that you have some organic problem. Truly, the problem is mental. If you do some research you may find that several people, who are perfectly healthy, can get lightheaded or dizzy upon standing too quickly if they have been dormant for some time (orthostatic hypertension).

One thing you need to remember is this: Feelings are NOT facts.

Too many people who have anxiety disorders or hypochondria tend use emotional reasoning. That's when you "feel" that something isn't right so therefore, it must be true! Wrong. Emotions are not factual, they are not always rational. Emotions are especially not rational if you are fearful or dreading something, or when in a high state of anxiety. It can take some work to get over this barrier. Trust logic, do not trust emotions when you are obsessing or worrying over something like an irrational fear, all they are going to do is cause you more distress. Don't do that to yourself. If something doesn't make you feel good, don't do it. Post hoc reasoning is something you might do also, where just because you feel a pain or an ache, it means there is something organically wrong. No, stop yourself in your tracks. Remember that correlation does not always mean causation.
Just because you have been coughing for a day does not mean you have emphecema.

One of the best things you can do for yourself, is to read up on hypochondria, study it, learn about it. This helps loads, trust me. Take it easy, don't stress over things. Stressing over things in general does no person any good at all. Its one thing us humans have an issue with for some reason. Ever notice that out of all mammals, only we human beings can sit and literally worry ourselves sick over something totally irrational or even imaginary? We can get flawed thinking sometimes.

Anyways, I hope this helps you out, keep everyone updated on how you are doing since we're all here to listen and help in any way.

I have health anxiety to. I was only diagnosed with this type of anxiety recently.

I get breathing problems everyday and have been this way for 11 months.

You have to change your thinking patterns and stay calm or make yourself calm after you start to panic.

Believe me, I know how hard it is but if you keep working on those things you'll have some good days.
