Chills/Muscle Twitches HELP HELP HELP!

Why is it that you can have a great two weeks and one bad day sets you back to where you were before?  I had a full blown panic attack on Tuesday and I have been in a constant state of anxiety since.  Even when I was not really anxious I was still getting muscle twitches, just not worrying about them.  Now I am back to worrying that I am going to have a seizure or something is wrong with me.  They are just weird.  They are all over my body.  Back, cheeks, eyes, lips, thigh, butt, stomach high and low, hands....They come and go all day but they are weird because a muscle will twitch a few times or sometimes once and then it moves to another part of my body.  I am also getting weird chills.  I do not get goosebumps and the chill (the best way I can describe the feeling) it localized to one part of my body only....like one side of my head or one thigh.  Has anyone ever experienced this?

I am still taking xanax .25 4x  day.  Yesterday I took an extra .25 which is fine, because I am prescribed up to 1.5 a day, but I know this is not a good medication to use at high doses long term.  I am so tired of living in fear every moment of my life.  I am to go out of town to my in-laws after work today and I am dreading it, because they live in a small town and what if something bad happens there?  The drs and facilities are not great.  Plus, about 2hours of the drive is on a stretch of highway that has no cell reception and is one way each way.  There is another way to go but it adds at least 1 1/2 hours to a 3 hr car drive already.  HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!

Also,  do you think I would be better benefitted by taking .5 3x a day than .25 4-5 times a day?  I know xanax has a short half life, but I want to make sure I am getting the best out of it.

Namaste,

First of all, take your medication as presribed by your physician.   Making adjustments on your own can be detrimental to your overall recovery.

Perhaps I'm oversimpilifying this but, it appears as if you're over-thinking the whole matter, especially the trip to you in-laws.

Living each day in fear is not a type of life that I enjoy(I suffer from bipolar disorder, PTSD, panic attacks, SAD and SAD), so I'm not a newcomer to "bad" days. The cest you can do is accept what is nappening at the moment and understand that it will pass.

You're not going to die from a panic attack, even though you may think sometimes that you are.

As for your other symptoms, I have experienced a wide range of physical symptoms during and after a major panic attack, but through alternative methods (i.e. meditation, yoga, etc.) you can learn to deal with them without serious distress.

I don't know if you also participate in counseling, but that is also an excellent adjunt to medications.  You need to take control of your life with the assiatnce of your support network.

Finally, if your after attack symptoms are especially troublesome, you should discuss them with your healthcare provider. He/she may be able to make an adjustment on your medication, change your medication and offer additional treatments and options.
