Quest 1. Are they dangerous? could there be one BIG brain zap that could do harm. If not, I just give time for them to stop. What's The worst case scenario?
Quest 2. Did you ever experienced them while you are taking meds regularly and in time? Because i am, and i havent changed my dose for 2 years now.
Pls Answer me!! :)
thank you for your advice it means a great deal to me, i just want to be able to get to the point were i can function again.
thanks again.
I had come off Effexor when I started the fish oil and supplements. They helped with the zaps at that time. Supplements don't "cure" you. They can help if you continue taking them. I take Celexa and a low dose of Klonopin at present. I still take the supplements and Omega-3 because I want to be as healthy as I can. If they work for you just stay with them. Can't hurt to try.
while taking thesupplements, were you taking your medication as well?2nd, are you still on your meds or did the supplements cure you ?
I take fish oil supplements also bbxx. I am also on celexa with Klonopin. The zaps only lasted a month or so and were not that intense. How long since you switched meds? Just starting a new SSRI can cause those too. In any case, they do go away.
Dont take any of my advice without talking to your doctor. What cured them for me was I took high amounts of fish oil. Just make sure its ok with your doc and get a good brand that tests for heavy metals. It took about a month or two on them before they improved.
yes, i too was on effexor for a short wile. now im on citalipram & xanex.
is ther anything that can be prescribed directly for the zaps or better yet were are the zaps coming from?
i need to get rid of them!
my shrink has no clue, im looking for a diffrent doctor.
i dont know what i can do.
Wow! I guess you really did get zapped. I had small brain zaps when I went off Effexor once. Nothing really bothersome, though. We all react differently.
When I had brain zaps the only thing they were followed by was a very fast vertigo flip.
In other words, I would feel and see the shock and then land on my backside. It was all very fast. I agree the other stuff you are describing is anxiety (in my opinion).
It sounds like your anxiety is not totally controlled. It doesn't really sound like brain damage. The hot flashes, panic and claustrophobia are other signs of anxiety as are "brain shimmers". Perhaps you need a med change. Speak with your doctor about the breakthrough anxiety.
I can only tell you what my experience was. I had brain zaps when I went on effexor and then when I went off it they were terrible, lasting months. In my own opinion, I believe it is a type of damage the drug is doing to ones brain.
