Narrowing it down now!

I noticed this pattern the past two weeks. during the week I have panic attacks up until my boyfriend gets home. somedays the attacks areNOT as bad, like saturday, sunday, Monday, was fine. Tuesday I started thinking i am dizzy but I fought the problem and went almost all day without it. Today I woke up and at 11am had a full out panic attack!

the whole:

Feeling dizzy or like I am falling
Heart palps (I can feel it in my throat
Headaches
felt inwardly shaky
afraid I'd passout or die
Afraid that I have something wrong with the brain or heart
Afraid my heart will just stop or go all crazy

funny thing is, I was thinking I could be pregnant again and I totally freaked out!!! I started getting the symptoms I did when I was at the er the first time I felt this way

I understand. Not everyone can do this. Just remember. The mind controls the heart rate and panic. Be strong!

Doctora: OH, I figured that after nursegirl said that. I am sorry that I miss understood. lol, i was paniced lastnight.

Simpleman74: for my odd method to help I lean forwards and take in a few deep breaths or sit down and curl up. usually breathing methods only further my panics.
it is funny, how panic attacks work.

and sometimes my heart doesnt beat fast, sometimes it just feels like it palps and I can feel it in my throat or i freak cause I cant feel it!

But don't try and do it by holding your breat. This will deprive your body of oxygen thus your heart rate will increase to get more oxygen. Slow it down slowly. If it start to race again, then take a few more dep breats. Then make them less gradually. It is a bit hard to say how you can do this. Easy or not. It is maybe easier for me because I did interior painting for years and learned to slow my heart down as not to breath in too much fumes from the paint. Even when sanding which would increased heart rates. I had to keep it as slow as I could so I didn't hyperventilate the paint fumes, and well then things get a little fuzzy! hehe

I suffer from anxiety when I am touching polyester, vinyl or other allergens I have. I contribute that to the increased heart rate. I believe maybe increased heart rate sends a sense of urgency to the brain. And I began helping myself simple by clearing my mind best I can and focusing on slowing my heart rate. A few deep beats to give enough oxygen to the body to hold it for a few seconds and then breathing slower and deeper and slowing my heart down. When it slows down the body becomes calmer. Remember now, that faster blood flow means more oxygen to the brain. More oxygen allows for more brain activity, and nerves to become more unstable. Have you ever got all out of breath just from running up stairs and then down or activity that gets your heart pumping fast, and then try and hold your hand out straight without it shaking at all. It is not easily done! once you start to panic your heart rate increases cause it to get worse. And keeping it up. Then when you tell yourself it is okay or think secure when your man comes home, then your heart slow back down and this helps you to become stable. Your brain listens to your thoughts. If you think it is coming on and that you can't control it, then this increases the panic mode. And when you learn to slow your heart, and relax, even if you set your worry aside for a minute, then you can gain control. If you think you can't then you won't. I mean to say, do this and once you see it works, then you will gain confidence in it. And it will work even better.

OMG I am so sorry, I didnt mean to freak you out, what I was trying to say is exactly what nursegirl6572 said, my wording was off, so sorry.

I have never had a seizure since, what I said was just what the dr's said because they didnt know why I had it, and I havent had one since, so I dont worry about it anymore, but I do get high anxiety, that is why I take Clonazapam.

OH, that made more sense to me, Nursegirl6572  because I had never heard of seizures and panic attacks but having both...I could see where one triggers the other.

I calmed down very quickly lastnight after I read abit about the person
thank you for your comfort! it really helps

NO!  A panic attack or anxiety will NOT cause a seizure!!!!!  I think what doctora meant was that her UNDERLYING seizure disorder is sometimes exacerbated by the level of her anxiety...which IS possible.  Anxiety does not CAUSE seizures, but in a person with seizure disorders, anxiety can trigger one.

Trust me on this one.....you're not going to have a seizure.

Those are the same symptoms I get when I have an anxiety attack, sometimes to the point that I have a seizure.

I agree with nursegirl6572, and personally, I have learned to accept my illnesses, and with accepting them I am not so afraid of them, or having them and surprizingly I have had less.

As my Dr said to me, just go with the flow, take it day by day, or minute by minute. Dont let your illness control you, you control it!

While it's always helpful to assess the "mechanics" of our anxiety, don't get too wrapped up in scouring for the lil details...as honestly, anxiety often follows no rules, and one of the most frustrating things about it is that once we THINK we've got it all figured out...the rules then change.

I've always said that finding the reason WHY you have anxiety isn't nearly as important as addressing it.  I'm not a believer that every person with an anxiety disorder has a deep seeded psychological reason (example...something dark from the past) that causes the anxiety.  For a good portion of people, sure...but I also think that some people are JUST anxious and simply have an anxiety disorder.  And, we can drive ourselves nuts trying to search for the answer...the reason WHY.  Of course we would feel better if we could understand it, but the reality is, it just sometimes doesn't happen for a lot of us.

So, try not to focus your energies too much on the WHY's, and try to focus more on the treatment.  Now, if you are noticing certain trends or triggers, by all means, use that in your attack plan.  If you are finding yourself getting super anxious after a cup of coffee, it only makes sense to perhaps dump the java.  But also, you cannot assume that if you look solely at the patterns that the problems will be solved, b/c again...the moment you think you've figured it out is the moment te anxiety does a "one up" on you...and THAT (for me anyway) has got to be one of the most maddening things about having anxiety!

Let us know how you're doing!
