coming off of Klonopin

I am taking ,25 mg1 time a day of Klonopin, perhaps 4 times a week....Originally, i was prescribed ,50 but I felt too drugged on that amount. I would like to come off the Klonopin....Yes I have heard the horror stories. My doc thinks that since I only take it 4 times a week, I can come off pretty easily by taking .25 mg every other day for about 2 weeks. What do you think? Not always so sure about this doc. I have been on it for a year, along with Celexa 20 mg,which I will continue to take.

I would agree, if you can go a few days without you may have decent tolerance to side effects. still klonopin taper though, typically the first few days are not all that bad off of it, and then it hits. Your on a low dose, like me, but it still is uncomfortable coming off.

I agree with your doctor.  We all respond differently to meds and their side effects and withdrawal effects.  Follow his taper instructions and you should do ok.

Have you had problems with your doctor in past with prescribing medications?  Do you have access to another doctor that will listen to your concerns? When I initially came off of Klonopin, I came off of it too fast and went back to my doctor with my concerns.  He listened and put me on a much slower taper for about a month, which helped tremendously.  I believe communication is key and sometimes we do not speak up loud enough with our concerns...is your doctor willing to listen?
