my anxiety seemed to get worse with lexapro before it got better, but it's def worth it because once it starts working you will feel so much better. It took a good month before I saw good results! good luck :)
I also agree with greenlydia 100 percent. In my experience with meds like these, it can take a good month to start feeling its benefits. Also equally important is to seek help through counseling. In my opinion, these medications are great tools to use while you learn about the root cause of what is causing it. Knowledge about this will give you the power to confront it. Keep us posted!
this is for jaquta....pls respond bak 2 me if u get a moment in regards 2 ur feedbak as wel...i lost email response 2 questions...thanx.......
I completely agree with Greenlydia. I started Lexapro 2 weeks ago today and almost gave up on it because of the nausea and tiredness. I'm so glad I did'nt because both of those side effects are gone and I'm starting to feel a little better. My husband even mentioned yesterday that I seem to be doing much better already. Do hang in there and give this med a chance. Take care. Remar
It can take up to 4 weeks for Lexapro to reach therapeutic levels in your system. (The level at which it will begin to affect how you're feeling) You must be patient, which is difficult, but don't give up. Also, don't expect to wake up on the morning of that 4th week and feel as if your depression is completely gone. These medications simply do not work that way. You will, slowly, begin to feel better and better. Your emotions will return to "normal," but you must give the med time to work. It's not a magic pill.
The side effect of nausea is very common and it too will eventually abate as your body adjusts to the med. If it is really bothersome, speak with your doctor. There are things they can give you to help with this side effect.
One of the biggest mistakes people make with antidepressants is not giving them adequate time to work, so they quite taking them. Your doctor SHOULD have told you the timeframe when you could expect to start feeling better. This information would also have been in the patient information leaflet, but unfortuantely, most people don't read those.
As to your final question............it is absolutely worth it!
If you have further questions, call your doctor............but know you can always write to us as well.
Hang in there, it WILL get better!
Peace
Greenlydia
