Yeah, that's a pretty high BP, for sure. Protocol would dictate they take it again before you left. And if it was still at 200/104, they would NOT have just sent you on your way. So what was it when you left?

You said that when you got out of there, meaning the doctors office, it went back to normal. How do you KNOW that? And what, in your opinion, is "normal" for you?

Many people have "white coat syndrome," which can manifest itself in a number of ways but most commonly in a rise in blood pressure. Doctors and nurses are well aware of this and is why our BPs are normally taken twice. Once when we arrive and again just before leaving.

Fear of having your blood pressure taken can be dealt with in a number of ways. One thing I don't advocate is for you to run out and buy a BP kit. That almost always backfires. The next time you see your doctor, talk with his nurse who will be able to give you valuable advice on several options to get over this phobia.
I wish you the best

Running to the doctors office can make your blood pressure go up. What is your fear?
