when i first tried klonopin - low dose, it did tend to disort my psysical ability - just a bit. I was more clumsy & my footing was sometimes a bit wrong, like overstepping a step sometimes, or feeling clumsy when getting up from a sitting postion - but this soon went - within a week or so. I never took it long term. It worked for me because of the longer half life...made me clam for longer and i slept well. hope this helps, w
You can definitely have some drowsiness initially as your body adjusts...just keep an eye on it and if it doesn't seem to improve, you will need to talk to your doctor, you may require a lower dose.
Different doctors Rx Klonopin differently. Some DO Rx it on a prn or "as needed" basis, and although the concensus is that regular dosing is optimal, some people have success taking it that way.
It's a new med for you and this period will be a bit of a trial and error run until you find out IF it is going to help you...what DOSE works for you and HOW to take it so that you receive the best benefit. All of those issues are things to discuss with your doctor during the initial regimen process.
Just be cautious at first doing things like driving, until you will better be able to assess how it is going to affect you.
Good luck...let us know how it's going!
Initially Klonopin can cause some drowsiness, but that tends to go away as your system gets used to it. In my experience it doesn't make me feel zoned out at all. It helps me feel NORMAL. It totally controls my panic attacks and controls my GAD at least 90%. I also take Celexa for the residual anxiety. If you are taking Klonopin regularly and it reaches steady state and stays there, it provides relief around the clock.
Does it not make you feel like a dream or zoned out?
it has a mean half life of 16-35hrs hours and it's effects can last between 7-8 hours Hours. It is a long acting benzo. I have been taking 0.5 mg. It is currently believed to be the best drug of choice for long term anxiety treatment, especially panic disorder.also used for the treatment of seizures.
Even though I do not have Panic Disorder or seizures. It should be taken regularly, not PRN, and you're told otherwise, be weary of that DR.
