lexapro??

I just went to the neurologist for my headaches.  She doesn't think there is anything wrong but she is sending me for a sleep study and an MRI w/and w/out contrast and a MRV??   However, she wants to put me on Lexapro for my headaches and backaches, AND she said it should help with my anxiety.  I told her I REALLY don't want to get on another medication, I have an aversion to them.  She was very supportive and told me it was up to me, and we could just wait until after my test and see.  She thinks that the cause is my lack of sleep and of course being stressed.  But I am glad she is just asssuming this and sending me for test.

Anyone feel free to tell me their experiences on lexapro please.  Thanks!

I'm on Lexapro too, 10mg, my sixth week.  I am so much more alive now than I was, because I'm not scared and unhappy and feeling beat up all the time.  It was weird the first few weeks, I'd never taken any medication before, but I feel so optimistic now.  I only have minimal anxiety, and that just comes in fits and starts, and I think because of the lexapro I am even handling those episodes better.  There really is another side, try to work through the weird stuff, it will probably go away.

I just started Lexapro as a precursor to taking Klonopin. They have me starting with half a tablet..5 mg for a week and then a full one for another week. So far it has made me jittery at night and has made me sweat alot at night. I know it takes time but right now I'm not loving it. but each person reacts differently.

I have severe anxiety that comes with minor depression so I was put on zoloft..that stuff was too tough so I got switched to lexapro. It was a lot easier on me then the zoloft was. You feel jittery at times and just...out of it. It takes a week or two to get used to. The side effects gradually wear off. Take it earlier in the day because if you don't you may not be able to get to sleep even if youre tired. It can make you lose your appetite, but its better to eat before you take it. I haven't had many problems with it. I just started taking it again this week and it hasnt been that bad at all. But all people are different. I know a friend that got on it and she couldn't eat for a long time. I think they ended up taking her off of it, but she's pretty small and probably didn't handle it very well. I'm on 10 mg and thats enough for me. If you are struggling with anxiety and don't want to go to a counselor I recommend it. When I was finally used to it, I never had any panic attacks. I was more happy, and wanted to get out more. Which is the opposite from when I wasn't on it. I hope this helps, good luck!
