I've had those symptoms before, how often do they happen to you?
closing the eyes and counting to 10 to me is scarier than keeping them open!
What I usually do, is get to a sink, turn on the cold water, and splash that on my face a few times. and I just keep rubbing my wet hands on my face, and re-splashing if the fear comes back.
But one thing that has helped, and I will try to find the link to the website, it recommends that you change your thought process while having an attack, and you keep repeating to yourself that if anything does happen, whats the worst that could happen?
and this works for me, one example is, say you're in a car, and start having an attack, well, chances are you can pull off the road you're on, and there are other people around you that can assist you, should you ever become completely unstable. I guess what this is supposed to do, is show you that no matter what, you should never fear, because there is always help, and or, it's all in your head.
But I would also recommend going to a different Dr. that will actually examine you, to make sure this is anxiety!
I hope you're feeling well today!
I agree with both posts above and especially when ccamrine states that you need to get a complete physical. A complete work up should be done....blood, cardio, everything...Just to be safe. Most likely it is anxiety but better to be safe than sorry.
Your Dr. should have given you a complete physical with the symptoms you told him about. Dizziness, tiredness and your heart racing could be alot of things. That is very strange he just wrote you off. I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just trying to make the point that the Dr. should've done more than he did. It very well could be anxiety. I have panic disorder and I get all of those symptoms you described, but I don't get dizzy or tired. My mind is racing too much to feel that. Maybe you should see another Dr. If you can, go to an internist. Carol
It does sound like anxiety, but is that all the doctor said to you was to count to 10? Did he examine you and think that you have anxiety? Did he do any testing? I only ask because you should always have a complet evaluation before assuming that it is anxiety. My panic attacks give me a racing heart, and I shake, and my body can feel like jello.
