Oh yeah and by the way DON'T read the "fine" print on your medications, because if you suffer that severly right now from anxiety/panic attacks..you can actually make yourself feel like you're having those symptoms. And that's the last thing you need. Your doctor discusses the most important side effects with you. If unsure just ask your doctor..don't pull out a magnifying glass to read the teenie tiny print. If it weren't proven safe and effective in enough of a quantity of people..YOU would not have been prescribed it. As I mentioned above...If you don't feel like it's working request to try something else.
As long as you have ruled out other culprits such as high blood pressure etc... It sounds like side effects form the lexapro. I am no doctor but have suffered depression and panic attacks for 17 years, I even went thru a bout with agoraphobia it got so bad. I have taken Zoloft and Xanax in combination for years with great success. I use to not even be able to get on the interstate or go to the store alone because of the weird sensations I would get in my face, throat, chest and not to mention the nausea and sweating...This I found out was due to rapid breathing, because your body goes into an automatic fight or flight mode and then you start to hyperventilate. If you can train yourself to slow your breathing and just sit down for a few minutes you will see that the panic attacks get alot less severe and alot less frequent. As with any medication it takes time to begin to work, it is not a quick fix. AND I WILL REPEAT AGAIN,,I AM NOT A DOCTOR!!! Just another individual who has suffered for years. If your symptoms do not improve within about 4-6 weeks on medication maybe suggest trying another medication, there are 100's out there. Good luck and God Bless. I hope this helps you somehow.
I think they are side effects....either from the lexapro or anxiety or both. I'm taking celexa and remember the side effects. Sweaty, dizzy, drowsy....doctors told me it shouldn't be from the meds but if you read the fine print, you'll find that virtually any side effect is possible and has been reported.
I wouldn't get too alarmed...just keep the faith.
