This is not a psychotic episode. Don't know where that idea came from. You know, everyone feels weird from time to time. I agree a checkup is in order, but who knows, it could be so many things, even humidity. I get this from time to time as well, and it's never proven to be anything more than momentary.
yeah - definitely do not think it has anything with a psychotic episode - haha. either way, i do have tinnitus in my left ear - possibly has something to do with it, i am sure. i have been fine today and last night - so i will continue to keep an eye out on it. if it persists, i will go see someone. i was more so looking to see if anyone else has been through this.
I agree that this is something you need to see your doctor about, so he can more thoroughly assess you. It sounds like it could be a number of things...anxiety of course is a possibility, but it seems unlikely, especially if you describe your anxiety as well controlled, and haven't been experiencing any surges of anxiety lately. Like cnote said, it could be an inner ear problem, blood pressure dropping, anemia, etc.
I too don't get any indication that this could be a psychotic episode at all. Also, just fyi, a neurological problem and psychoses are two totally different things. Some SOURCES of psychoses can be neurological in nature, but typically, it stems from a psychiatric disorder, like schizophrenia, or bi-polar disorder. I just didn't want you freaking out about that. That would have been the last thing I would have thought of.
Definitely have a sit down with your doc and let him assess you. Start there. If he gives you a clean bill of health, which I imagine he probably will, and if you continue to notice this happening, you will then likely be referred to a specialist, like a neurologist, or ENT, or both. If everything still checks out okay, then I think it's reasonable to then look into anxiety being the culprit.
Keep in touch, let us know how you're doing and what the doc says!
I wouldnt call this a "psychotic" episode by no means. I wouldnt use that term loosely. Nobody wants to be labeled psychotic by no means.
From what my Dr. has told me, this can VERY WELL be a sign/symptom of anxiety. It can be a very uneasy feeling.
I have felt like I was falling through the floor before. That doesnt mean I'm psychotic or having a psychotic episode. However, it could indicate a chemical imbalance or something.
Go see a Dr. It could be anything from anxiety to inner ear issue causing imbalance. There is such a thing as Labyrinthitis, which is when a crystal in your ear get's off, and can cause off balance and sense of movement. Usually motion sickness pills are prescribed til the feeling goes away and it heals iteslf.
Don't freak yourself out. Just go see a Dr.. I'm sure you'll get a clean bill of health. :)
This is not normal. Something neurological is going on with you that should be addressed right away. What you are experiencing is in the class of neurological events called (loosely) a psychotic episode. I have them, too, but mine are very mild... I just see some shadows that aren't there sometimes. Please see your doctor about this as soon as possible, to rule out things like your brain not receiving enough oxygen, blood work to rule out any danger of diabetes or low blood counts, things of that sort. If nothing is found, request a referral to a neurologist to diagnose your problem, and what can be done about it. - Blu
