hi there. i'm also on sertraline 50mg and when i first started taking it I did sorta feel like I had to pee a lot. sometimes though, not much would come out. it scared me and when I told my doc about it, he said its rare but possible and to see if it goes away. it eventually went away. hopefully yours does too. good luck with everything. -lynnsee (:

You are smart to follow your doctor's orders.  There are plenty of medications to choose from when treating anxiety.  Do as your doctor asks you.  You will be able to see if the frequent urination is related to the medication or not.

It is not a typical transient side effect, I will tell you that.  Transient side effects are the ones associated with the medication getting up and running within the system.  It takes about 6 to 8 weeks to know if a an antidepressant is going to work for you.  By that time, transient side effects subside and full effectiveness is in place.  So, a trial of 6 to 8 weeks of sertraline is what most doctors do.  They will stop this if the side effects are unusual or too much.

So, do as your doctor says to see if this is related and if it is not, then you can go back.  By the way, are you being titrated up in dose?

Since I've wrote that I spoke to out of hours doc and she said she never heard of that as a side effect and she said dont take it today to see if it goes but I've also googled and I found a couple of people having the same problem so I'm half and half about taking it today

Hmmm... I have taken zoloft for a long time.  I do not recall having this side effect.  However if you can tolerate it, then it will most liley to subside.  Remember, it takes zoloft about two weeks to begin to work.  Keep taking it as prescribed, and if you have any other side effects that are not tolerable, see your doctor.  Blessings - Blu
