Was in a bad accident and have panic disorder and agoraphobia. I take a bunch of regular meds. But what I need help with is that I currently take 1mg of klonopin 4x's a day. I also take 200 mg of nucynta 2x's a day for pain. Problem is I have a VERY bad cold and need a decongestant or antihistamine. Pharmacist says no. But this cold is so bad that I have a head full of sinus. Anyone have any ideas? I also would prefer not to be high.

I take klonopin and I like it. I take one in morning and two at night. The two at night helps with sleep and the morning one just takes the edge off. Your dr should to tell you how to go from one to another my doctor always gives me directions. Hope it helps you. It's generic so it's cheaper that helps me alot! Remember that differant drugs work better  on different people. I hope it works for you. Good luck, Gail

I have taken both before, and the klonopin is usually prescribed more long term and on a more regimented basis than ativan is in my experience.  Ativan has a much shorter half life and is usually prescribed short term on an as needed basis.

Have you completed the transition fromt the ativan to the klonopin?  I know sometimes coming off of one and going on the other can be tricky and your doctor should adivse you on how to do it depending how much and how regularly you were on the ativan in my opinion.

I personally had a good experience with klonopin and it was a useful tool while I was going through counseling....keep us posted!
