It is an unfortuante truth that once a doctor sees in our medical files that we've been diagnosed with anxiety/panic/depression/hypochondria, we are stigmatized. It is horribly unfair, but most doctors can't think outside the box.

I'm going to repeat my advice about seeing your GP to go over the ER records and discuss your symptoms again. I'm going to say something that may cause you to think I'm no longer on your side, but please know that isn't true. Since you have been diagnosed with both anxiety and hypochondria, I can tell you from many years of persoanl experience, these are two cards you do not want to draw to. They feed off each other and by doing this, they both keep growing until their power to control us is absolute. I feel pretty safe in saying that that is where you are now. They are definitely strong opponents, but YOU are definitely and therefore, ultimately the stronger.

To get the control back, as well as your life, I believe it is imperative you get into therapy and work to find the root cause of your anxiety and the hypochondria. I believe it's best to first see a psychiatrist who will make sure the diagnosis you've been given is correct and/or complete. If it's not, all the therapy in the kingdom won't help. The p-doc will refer you to a therapist who specializes in the disorders you're dealing with.

I have nothing against medications, but I firmly believe that is a very personal decision between you and your p-doc or your therapist. Just please remember that while the pills will help with the symptoms, without finding out what is causing those symptoms, all you are doing is masking them. What you want is recovery, or as close to that as you can possibly get.

I understand how chaotic these conditions can make us feel, so you just have to take it one day, one step at a time. And it will not be easy nor quick. You must have patience. Like a broken leg, or a broken arm.....a broken mind takes time to heal. But it will.

You must become pro-active in regaining your mental health and you must keep fighting for what you need to accomplish that. You must learn to stand up to the people who dismiss your struggle  and if they can't or won't see you in any light except as a silly, nervous hypochondriac, you need to learn how to walk away. It's also very satisfying to come up with a really snappy exit line..........this is a "family forum" so I can't share any of mine on this channel.

Post anytime you need to talk. There are a ton of us here who know what you're going through.
Be strong
Peace

I think you should make an appointment with your GP and let him/her go over your ER records, discuss your symptoms and see if any further testing may be needed.
If it had been anything really serious, you would not have been released from the ER, so try to hold onto that little bit of comfort.
Your symptoms are common to many things from simple allergies, reflux, ulcers, sinus problems (yes) and of course, anxiety.
But only your doctor can give you a definitive diagnosis.
I'm sure you're fine but I'm not a doctor.
