undiagnoses physical illness

My son has many symptons that have lasted a year or so.  They include, dizziness, fatigue, skin blotches, problems with vision in one eye, headaches, swollen lymph nodes (according to him) and a general inability to do anything.  He has suffered from anxiety in the past, but swears that he knows that these symptons are not from anxiety but from some as yet undiagnosed physical illness.  The doctors that he sees keep saying its just anxiety and give him benzos, SSRI's, etc but none of them help him at all.  In fact he is getting worse.  The doctors are refusing to order any tests that might detect some physical illness.  Any ideas what tests should be considered.

Also make sure they test him for the irregular stuff -- lyme disease, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, there's a test for all that stuff.  I've had it done twice.  It almost always comes up negative, but there are a lot of things out there that are very hard to find.

He goes back tomorrow to his doctor.  In the past he has had his thyroid tested and his level has been ok.  But the doctor does want to run these tests again. I am not sure of his blood sugar.  I know he has had numerous blood tests but not any recent ones.  I am going to recommend he ask his Dr. for a full blood screening.....

Have they run tests on his endocrine system, especially thyroid?  What about blood sugar?

I was following you until your said that the doctors were refusing to order any tests.. what kind of health plan does he have? (HMO or PPO) Is he required to only see his current PCP to have tests ordered or can he go to a different PCP.  Your first problem is that his PCP needs to be fired.  I can tell already that relationship between your son and his physician is not working out.

What kind of testing has been done? Do you have copies of the results? He is allowed to see all results and physician notes. What testing do you feel he needs. What were results of labs?  What is the specific problem with his vision and has he seen opthomology?  If you are not familiar with how to gather this info and the process I don't mind going over it with you.
