Thank you for your response again, the only reason why my doctor wants me to get off of it slowly is because he doesnt think i will need it after i start feeling better, because i had a hyperthyroid for 3 years which i had no idea about until last year that pretty much turned my life upside down, it changed my hormones, my nerves, everything in a negative way and made me feel not normal. and recently i just got surgery on it and removed it so my bodys taking a while to adjust to feeling normal again, so he put me on these medications temporarily to snap me back to feeling normal again since my thyroid was the problem and it changed everything when i was sick.
Thank you so much for your response its just im 22 years old so im a bit freaked out about all these suicidal reviews i have been reading, because sometime i wont lie i do have thoughts like that because im so sick and tired of going through this which im sure everyone else is also, but its not at the point where im gona get up and do it you know but it does cross my mind sometimes when im having a really bad panic attack. but thank you again for your response. How long have u been on these medications?
All medications come with side effects and if we researched every one we took, nobody would take medication....for anything. We all respond differently to these types of medications, and what one experiences another may not. There are so many people on these types of meds and if only one reports a side effect, they have to list it. Suicidal thoughts are more common in teens taking these types of medications. Lexapro is widely used with excellent results, I've taken it myself with no problems. There is an adjustment period of 1-2 weeks when you start your medication, but if you experience any side effects, always contact your doctor right away as there are others which may be better suited for your needs. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing how we will do on any of these types of medications until we take them. Just know that if you start to gain weight (I didn't) or experience anything that concerns you, call your doctor and he will know what to do. All antidepressants are pretty much the same, it's just finding the one that works best for us individually. I hope this helps and take care.
