This syndrome effects many people who also have lupus and RA. The lab work is similar, ANA, RF ect, ect. It effects the eyes, mouth, lungs ect. any mucous producing organ. The biggest is dry mouth and eyes. I have had the lab work done and nothing is showing yet. Feels like a time bomb. I have the dry eyes. I went for a free lasik consultation and the doc couldn't get mappings on my corneas so he inserted plugs in to my inferior ducts and gave me drops. Didn't help sent me back to my doc for lab work. Nothing showed. Recently went to have the eyes checked, optomotrist couldn't find anything wrong. This syndrome can go into remission like RA and Lupus. Hope you find answers. Sjorgen's is a little harder to find information on than lupus and RA. I googled forver before I found everything I wanted to know. Best wishes.
I have primary Sjogren's. Funny thing is that the tear ducts used for crying are spared in my case. The lacrimal glands produce no tears, but I can still cry. I can't speak for others, but my opthomologist says this is not unusual. Hope you find the answer you need.
I think it is a problem with the tear ducts causing dry eye. Also, dry mouth. You should google it and you can get a lot of info.
