ANA and infections?

I have a high ANA speckled pattern wothout a diagnosis at this time.  I am having chronic bacterial and viral infections.  Are the infections anyway related to autoimmune disorders?  Thank you

I am actually having success on the protocol. My allergies are better and I can now tolerate gluten. Before I started the protcol, I couldn't eat any wheat products at all. My blood pressure is more stable and the tachycardia is also better. When I take breaks from the protocol, I have a lot more strength and energy. My family members and friends have all noticed. My only complaint is the protocol takes so long, especially in patients who have CFIDS. It takes hard work and some restrictions, but I believe it is well worth it. There are many success stories posted on their website and bacterality.com . Feel free to send me a PM if you have anymore questions.

Good luck !

I'm going to print out some info on that Marshall protocol and bring it to my doctor.  Has it worked for you?  Hopefully I'll get some answers soon.  Thanks.

That's interesting.  I never thought about infections and autoimmune being related but now that I have both and something is going on that they can't figure out it makes sense.   I will check in to it and bring it up to my doctor.  Thanks for the info.

There are many people with 'autoimmune' conditions on the same treatment that I'm currently on (I have CFIDS). This treatment treats successive infections and uses antibiotics (low dose) to kill the infection. The name of the treatment is the Marshall Protocol --- you can find their website using any search engine.

My doctor (rheumatologist, immunologist, and internist) works from the position that infections are at the root of autoimmune disorders, even arthiritis and many cancers.  I'm autoimmune and have immunodeficiency, and antibiotics and anti-virals provided the first relief for some symptoms that other doctors had not been able to treat for a long time. There's a bunch of research to support the connection.  You can search 'googlescholar' for autoimmune and virus or bacteria. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I'm going next week to a rheumy, hopefully I will get some answers. I just don't understand why I'm having so many infections in addition to all this other mess.

Have you seen a rheumatologist yet ? If so and you've have additional labs to rule out lupus and other autoimmune conditions.. you may want to ask your physician about CFIDS.
