I am currently seeing a Hepatologist and she has ordered a liver biopsy to confirm Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. My lab results are: BUN/Creatinine Ratio is 33 (High), Alkaline Phosphatase, S 137 (High), AST (SGOT) 45 (High), ALT (SGPT) 116 (High), GGT 314 (High), ANA Screen, IFA Positive, Mitochondrial AB Screen Positive, Mitochondrial AB Titer 1:160, Non-Reactive for Hepatitis B
I was also ordered to have an MRI abdomen with and without contrast MRCP for evaluation of bile ducts.
Is the liver biopsy necessary for a diagnosis?
The Hepatologist told me that my levels are only mildly elevated, is this accurate?
Please help!
