I'm a nervous wreck!

I have been experiencing some bizarre symptoms for the past few months, am too impatient to wait for results :)

Numbness and tingling in random areas that comes and goes, sometimes for minutes, sometimes for days; pinching and/or burning sensations on my skin; swelling and pain in my ankles; muscle aches all over; doc says I'm "hyperreflexive" in one knee; headaches; fatigue; irritable; short term memory loss; difficulty "finding my words"; frequent urination, we're talkin' every hour or so...

I've had an MRI of the brain, everything came back negative for abnormality.  My blood work did come back slightly B12 defficient, but I've been taking supplements for about 2 months and symptoms are increasing instead of getting better......

Anyone have any ideas?  Am I looking at something autoimmune related like Lupus or something?

Hi and welcome to MedHelp.

Yes, I was thinking it could be lupus.  Have they done an ANA?

I think that was one of the many million tests that I actually did just yesterday...I don't go back for another appointment until mid-August, which is going to seem like forever!!!

Meanwhile, I recommend that you stay out of the sun as much as possible.  Put on sunscreen. Try to get really good rest.  If you have to take a benadryll (unless your allergic to benadryll - I'm thinking it is a fairly safe drug).  Getting rest is very important.  The last bit of advice would be to not stress.  Don't even stress about feeling bad.  Stress is a trigger.  I also think that excessive sugar also triggers symptoms.

Keep us posted on how your labs turn out.

Wow.....I am reading some posts from other people and I think I'm having symptoms that I didn't realize were symptoms...I get this rash on my hands and forearms when I'm in the sun, raised, red "strawberry" looking thing on the backs of both my hands and starting up my arms.  This actually started about 4 years ago while I was in Florida for a family vacation...of course every time I scheduled an appointment with a doctor, the rash was gone by the time they got me in, so I couldn't even have anyone take a look at it...

Also, yesterday I had a wierd "spell"....started to get tunnel vision and feel like I was going to pass out, a vertigo type of feeling, almost when you're squatting and stand up too fast.  Just as it went away I lost complete control of my eyes.  They were crossing and floating all over the place.  This lasted about a minute and was gone as fast as it came.  I was absolutely exhausted afterward.  My mother has seizures from a long-ago head injury and she said it sounds like a seizure....I'm not liking this at all.

Say a prayer that someone calls me with some blood work results soon.  I'm not sure my mental state can handle waiting until my August appointment.

This is becoming more of a blog than a Q and A, isn't it?1 haha!

Hi I got a question? Are you a diabedtic? Or has your doctor checked to see if your one?
Also when you have a rash try to take a picture of it to show your doctor.

How very interesting that you asked if I was diabetic :)  Got my second round of blood work back today.  Everything came back normal except B12; it was the same as the first time, which was just slightly low.  In my initial testing, my fasting blood glucose was "on the high side of normal" so he wanted to add a 2 hour glucose to my testing.  I didn't really think about it until today.

Initial blood glucose after a 10 hour fast = 99.  Drank the yucky garbage that they like to refer to as a orange pop LOL and an hour later blood glucose = 212.  Another hour later blood glucose = 39....so does this mean diabetes or hypoglycemia?  He strongly suggested that I go back to my PCP, and he already had the results sent to him.  Of course his office was closed by then, so I'll be calling on Friday.  Neurologist still wants to see me in August to see how I'm feeling and check to see if my symptoms have reduced after sugar is regulated...

I've been a diabetic since I was 7 years old, thats why I asked. It just seemed like you have the systom of one.

Of corse I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

I agree that so called orange is terrible. It takes me sseveral times to get it all down..yucky.

I would call your doc early on friday morning and explain how nervous you are, though they might tell you that you going to have to come in to talk to the doctor.

Keep in touch and let us how it goes.
