Hi Lacey and welcome to the forum.
Sorry about all your suffering , the lack of answers , your inability to work and your lack of income because of your undiagnosed condition.
Automatic dysfunction is a catch-all medical label, in the absence of a diagnosis, with little value.
enzymelover offered some good suggestions, however, I wouldn't count on the possibility of you going to a specialized clinic any time soon, to explore the automatic dysfunction suspicion further.
The information you posted is not enough to narrow down enough the possible conditions according to your symptoms.
1.Do you perhaps experience heart palpitations/elevated heart rate when you're suffering from one of your episodes?
2.Do you check your blood pressure frequently and do you know what it is?
3.Do you have any known risk factors or any findings that may cause any of these symptoms other than the familial connection (your father's condition)?
4.Have you ever had a complete hormonal panel ordered by your doctor?
5.Have you had your blood glucose levels checked at various times?
I believe that you can monitor and test on your own some of the above (1,2 &5) as testing once at the doctor's office may not be very helpful.
If you can answer some of these, it might help to shed some more light
in this medical investigation.
Best wishes.
Niko
Hello! It is frustrating isn't it when you can't find a doctor willing to find the root cause of your symptoms.
Are your father's symptoms the same as yours? There are a few clinics in the U.S. that dig deeper into the diagnosis of autonomic dysfunction.
Have you seen a cardiologist or a neurologist yet for your symptoms? You may have something like Neurocardiogenic Syncope.
Take a look at the Dysautonomia forum here on medhelp, and see if the health pages info can shed some light on this for you. There can be many causes for the symptoms you mention, but there are treatments that help. You may need to learn as much as you can, and bring info to a doctor to start getting some relief.
