My daughter is 13-she was diagnosed with MBL deficiency when she was 8 after months of recurring high fevers and illness, ending with Mono.  She is doing well now.  I believe (unprofessionally) that it goes into a remission of sorts.  This year we started to see some similar -but far minor symptoms-nagging her such as repeated skin infections and multiple canker sores in her mouth. I don't think you should worry about it.  It's just something to be aware of and go on living your (their) life.  Just be aware when they are not feeling well to check for worse infections etc..
I think they need to keep themselves healthy too-extra sleep, vitamins etc..  My daughter dance every day of the week-I think the physical exercise has also helped to amp up other parts of her immune system to compensate.
Don't worry about it.  I remember feeling the same way you do-overwhelmed by it.
I also (again, unprofessional opinion) think it's important to limit sugar if possible-seems to lower resistance??

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Mannose-binding lectin protein (MBL) deficiency is rare. There is not much information on this as it is a rare disease. The MLB protein is apart of our body's immune system that blinds with receptors on disease causing germs and helps fight against infection. A defect or mutation in MLB gene causes a break in this defense system. This often results in recurrent and severe infections. Usually we do not provide external links, but since this is a rare disease I am providing one for more information: http://rarediseases.info.nih.gov/GARD/Condition/10309/QnA/21683/Mannosebinding_lectin_protein_deficiency.aspx
Hope this helps! Take care!
