Thanks for your reply. Autonomic dysfunction has not yet been daignosed for me. But when I stand for a few minutes and then sit down my blood pressure goes down by more than 20. I suffer from a neurological disorder which is sometimes closely associated with peripheral neuropathy. I have got various other symptoms which suggest I am suffering from autonomic neuropathy. I live in a small town in Australia. I consulted a neurologist who asked me to get an EMG done. But the EMG can be done only after 4 months.
My first question is the same as evo123. I want to clarify your dx.
As far as heat stroke is concerned, many of us with autonomic dysfunction have reduced ability to sweat and have heat intolerance. For those with this problem it is easier to get heat stroke. Drinking water, using A/C, using misters and even wearing a cooling vest have been used by some of us.
Have you had a tilt table test? Have you had any heart tests? Are you anemic or have any endocrine problems? The more that has been checked out medically the more you can rule out factors that might contribute to your problem. Avoiding extreme heat is important as our bodies don't adapt well to cool us down.
Hope this is helpful! Marie
Hi,
Is 'Neurally mediated hypotension due to autonomic neuropathy' your diagnosis?
