From time to time, I feel like there is a lump in my throat- like something is caught there.   But I don't think a lump feeling is part of POTS itself.

May I recommend you get your esophagus evaluated by a GI specialist?  They might order an EGD- scope of your upper GI system (esophagus is in your throat going on down to your stomach)- check for strictures or hiatal hernia, etc..

You might also get an ultrasound of your thyroid, in case a nodular growth is affecting your swallowing.

And you might consider if you have felt under a lot of stress lately, because feeling like there's a lump in your throat can be a symptom of anxiety as well.

Since you also feel like a lump is in your chest, perhaps your doctor may want to order a chest x-ray.

Hi, it's me agian:)  Yes that is a common symptom.  It can be do to your muscles, acid reflex, thyroid tissue growing inward(when it is on the outside it is called a goiter) and meds.  I was really struggling with the feeling of not being able to swallow but luckily it has gotten better.  Although my daughter thought her throat was swelling shut and her toungue felt like it was swelling also this past Sunday.  At those moments you must calm yourself the best you can.  My doctor also told me I can take half of my Clonazepam and hold it under my toungue.  Nicki
