Spina bifida occulta

I have had spina bifida occulta my whole life but im now 37 and for the past 6 months im in terrible pain in my lower back along with numbness and loss of sensation now and again in my hands feet and legs.  I attend the doctors complaining and all i get is, thats part if the condition and recently they've said its due to pregnancy (but pains started way before then) i have read that the spinal cord can stretch and therefor cause considerable pain and i feel like im not being acknowledged. I have purchased a tens machine as never given pain killers just told to take paracetamol (no good what so ever) more like in need of liquid morphine.... What can i do to get the pain relief i so desperately need. I struggle at work getting in and out of the car and can hardly walk as the pain and pressure so bad! Please help!!!! Im going crazy with sleepless nights and getting more and more depressed

I hate getting questions where I can't really give a suitable answer. You know you have the mildest form of spina bifida. spina bifida is latin for split spine. Occulta is latin for hidden. There is, unfortunately, no known cure. There has been great advances for treatment for in-utero surgery and for infants/babies. The only answer I personally can give is "real" pain killers! I'm very sorry I can't give you a better answer. I hope your situation improves! jd1963
