Weightlifting Injury Help

Hello everyone, I am hoping someone can help me. 3 weeks ago I was squating with 250lbs. of weight. The bar was sitting on my neck/upper back. I was just standing there with the weight on my back, and my upper back just started popping (probably about 5-10 times). After that, for about 2 weeks, it was hard for me to raise my arms, run, jog, walk, and pick anything at all up. I went to the doctor, got it x rayed, and nothing showed up. I went to an orthopedic surgeon and he recommended that i try physical therapy first, and if that didnt work they would take an mri. The orthopedic surgeon didnt think it was a disk injury becuase i don't have a lot of numbness or tingling. So, I have been on the therapy for about a week now and some of the pain is going away. My everyday tasks aren't very painful but it still hurts badly to run/jump or pick up a weight and raise my arms with that weight. The pain is right on C7. Also, in the past week, C7 has been popping around a lot. When I move my arms or shoulders, C7 sometimes shifts around and pops. It is not that painful when it pops and shifts around. If anyone has a clue, thank you.

How are you getting on with this? Feeling any better?
What is the physical therapist doing? If it is just soft tissue work, you might be better to try a chiropractor - if the x-rays have shown there is no fracture, could be that you might respond better to manipulation. Worth chatting to a chiropractor if you are still in pain.

Could be that because you are still lifting weights - you have not given the tissues enough time to recover?
The fact that when you jarr it, it hurts suggests that you still have some inflammation going on and you must consider that if you have strained or sprained something then it will potentially take a few weeks to recover ....I am optimistic that because the pain is reducing, you have not done anything too bad, but you are just not giving the tissues enough time to recover!
Keep on with the physical therapy; rest a bit more than you are and when you start weight lifting again, start with light weights.
If you do not make a full recover over the next  6 - 8 weeks, then consider an MRI scan or try a chiropractor who understands sporting injuries.
Good luck and be patient!!
