kooky

9 years ago i dove off a diving board and hyperextended my back so periodically i will go through 3 to 4 weeks of excruciating pain in back and my abdomen, i had an MRI and was told i hd a buldging disc and i just had to live with it. The pain is so bad its much like being in labor an having contractions, no doctor will take me seriously an pain medication rarely helps, anyone ever have anything like this type of pain, it also makes me throw up an am constantly nauseated. Its almost as if there some type of swelling in my abdomen cause i get bloated an you can see my pulse beating in abdomen thats why i had the MRI they thought i had  triple A.

ty for yor advice and i will follow it, i have ask for any special services and unless you have children they realy will not help, i have beengoing to a pay scale doctor but he said he doesnt want to see me anymore that i am just seeking drugs, my new doctor will not prescribe narcotics to anyone and i have to go to phsychiatristto get my ADHD meds. Even when i had insurance though no one would help me, i have no history of drug abuse or do i even drink but every dctor thinks im making more out of it than it is, the pain is so strange it starts in my back  but ends up hurting my abdomen more than anything this all began after my diving accident. I used to be such an athelete but now even if i jog it will start it up again and sometimes lasts for up to 6 weeks. Im so tired of being treated like a freakin druggie and am just drained from the pain.

does your state not offer free/reduced health care for those without insurance? like some kind of health clinic that ones can go to that doesnt have ins. coverage?  drs are NOT going to be able to see disc/nerve problems on an x-ray...period. no matter how hard they look...x-rays arent designed to look at the disc/nerves. its for bones only!!  i would call your local health dept and ask if they can tell you where you can go to get the medical help that you need. your dr is incorrect in stating that they cant do anything until it "ruptures" or "herniates". if its pressing on a nerve..they CAN do something...whether it be physical therapy...the esi's and pain meds. you just have to find a dr willing to be a dr...they CAN do physical therapy, etc even if it isnt pressing on a nerve. i dont know how many drs you have been to and how many have rejected you...but you really do need to keep trying and find one that will listen to you. and be certain to tell any jack leg of a dr that an x-ray is NOT going to show your problems..that they need to order an MRI and get you the help that you need!!!  but MRI's and ESI's are very costly....so you really do need to look into things with your local health dept to see what kind of assistance/references they can give you

ty for your response my problem is i have no insurance anymore and no real doctor will see me without it, i even went to an orthopedic specialist and he said no one will do anything unless my disc ruptures or herniates, my ex- husband was in military at the time this first happened and they prescribed me anti depressents for anxiety they never took serously and still no one does they wont give me pain meds much less an ephideral which i feel would indeed help, but as usual because they cant see it on an x-ray they think im fakin it for pain meds, im going to a phsychiatrist tommorrw maybe they will believe me.

first of all...let me start by saying that my pulse beats in my upper ab...dr at one time thought it was a possible aneurysm, sent me for sonogram, found that its just fine...which i knew, because its been there ever since i can remember.

secondly....im not sure what kind of dr that you saw..but you need to see another dr that will actually care. Physical Therapy, as well as Epidural Steroid Injections..as well as pain meds can be prescribed. If worse comes to worse....surgery can be an option. Your best bet is a neurosurgeon....(not a neurologist!)...or an orthopedic surgeon.
