I’ve just experienced something similar to this. I’m 25 years old and had a panic attack for the first time earlier in the week. I think I am still reeling from that a bit, so have gotten a lot less sleep. I wanted to share that I felt this pulse in my lower back while lying or sitting down and it seemed like this made me feel nauseous. I was quite worried. Eventually I vomited and showered and felt much better afterwards. I believe this sensation in my lower back was just the feeling of my own pulse and it was hightened by my anxiety and the stiffness in my back.

I hope this helps anyone reading who suffers from anxiety. One thing that I used to ground myself was pay attention to the feeling of my feet. If this “pulse” was a symptom of poor circulation or something similar, I would have experienced numbness. No numbness and no pain elsewhere told me it was not a major warning sign. Keep in mind your body can create all sorts of alarming sensations purely out of stress/anxiety.

I'm an ex-paramedic with a lot of years of health issues.  I have a ton of knowledge and will try to help.  I would need to know how strong of steroids and how long on them.  Taking steroids for a period of time takes over your own bodies ability to make adrenaline.  If you are also noticing swelling in ankles, this also is a symptom.  It can take a long period of time to start back up your own bodies adrenal glands.  This effects all the fluids in your body.  I don't want to fill your brain with years of microbiology and biochemistry to explain.  You are 30 years old and in shape on the outside.  Steroids will effect you more intensly for the rest of your life.  Drink lots of water and take a multivitamin containing magnesium, potassium and vitamin d and calcium.  Avoid diuretics, like coffee.  Give your body time to learn to undo what you have done.  You may be experiencing extreme fatigue as well.  Steroids take down many forms of inflammation but cause others.  Then your body stops taking care of it naturally.  You are young enough to fix this.  Your bones have suffered from steroid use as well.  I would get checked for disc's slippage as well.  Steroids make us look in shape, but they can do a lot of damage as well.  I hope that I helped.   Tina

I too have had similar problems with my lower back, but it only is a bother when I lay down at night to sleep. Due to certain amounts of research and professional advice I assume that it may be in relation to my anxiety, in which I have only just began showing symptoms of.

Yes!  I have exactly the same sensation.  I'm searching for an answer myself and came across this site.  I am a 54 year old female with CFS/Fibromyalgia.  It feels like a fist being pushed against my lower back.  Or, like something pushing on the inside.  Also, the other night I was sitting on my bed and suddenly felt my heartbeat in this area of my back.  I was very bothered by it.
