Can it really be gone?

I've been through alot this past decade and I thought that that was the cause of my depression but I later noticed that I've always been this way since I was a child.  I'm at either extremes either overly perky and happy or depressed and suicidal.  At instances I would just be numb without feelings and just stare off into space without a thought or a care.   6 years ago I was medically diagnosed with depression and prescribed wellbutrin.  Tried it for 2 years but it seemed that when I was on it then getting off it made it worse.  These past 2-3 years have been the hardest I've had to deal with.  Tried commiting suicide more than 3 times lucky with no success.  My son came up to me one day and told me he was mad at me and that he wanted me to die.  He later felt bad and came to me to confess his feelings and told me that he didn't want me to die.  Like a ton of bricks it hit me that I've been so selfish all this time.   The feeling of depression has seem to have faded but can it really?  How should I handle it when it returns?

I went thru a 15 year remissions where I thought everything was fine, of course when Ib was re-daignosed and treated and my wife and I started learning more about Bipolar we realised I had not been in remission at all and I am better now in most ways tghan before.

Now is the time to arm yourself with education about the disease and support networks and learn what triggers you feeling certain ways, and enjoy the new feeling :)

most of us have had remissions from time to time. the main thing you can do is be in close touch with how you're feeling so that the minute anything starts up again you have support measures in place. pdoc number, good books etc.. whatever works for you and enjoy being free of it for as long as it lasts!
