Did u end up with Essure? I have nothing but problems!!! Have had the right side replaced twice! I was in horrible pain and have been bleeding ever since. I'm 5 months postpartum. My OB is not concerned and says it has nothing to do with essure. I do think so since I was not bleeding after the previous essure came out. Than about two weeks later I had the third placed and I have not quit bleeding and passing clots. So basically I have been bleeding non stop since Georgia Marie was born a little over 5 months ago!!! I need help

Vasectomies can go wrong, I have been in some sort of pain every day since making that awful mistake.Just don`t let your man go down that way.
About IUDs.. I did get slightly longer periods and worse cramps.. at first.. no moodiness, or sex drive problems.. my main problems was a higher frequency of infections. But apparently if you're already prone to infection, its not the best choice. I eventually ended up on a prog. only BCP. I'm not sure if they cause moodiness, etc or not.. I just had a baby so the moodiness was already there when I started them this time.. but when I used them after the IUD (which was after norplant-which i loved!) I didn't experience any side effects whatsoever.
But there are hormone free IUDs.. thats what my mom had from after her 3rd and final pregnancy at 30 until she died at 52. (death was totally unrelated!)
I had the Essure procedure in 2006 and I have had no side effects because of it. My periods are regular. I was one of the few cases that had trouble with placement. One of the coils did not get blocked within three months and another coil had to be reinserted. The coil also didn't show up on the X-ray so I ended up with two coils in one tube & one in the other.
Aside from that I have had no other issues. Very little pain afterward if any at all.
Well Ive read that it causes even more heavy bleeding and longer periods, moodiness, low sex drive etc. I am already having problems with the low sex drive thanks to my other meds, so I want to avoid making that worse. I don't know if it would worsen depression like the hormonal birth controls, but Im really afraid to take that chance. I know some women can get them and have no problems, but I just scared Ill be one that gets all the bad side effects.
Thanks so much for the explanation! Yes, I was thinking of Novasure.
What side effects do you think there are from IUDs? I had one, and didn't think there *are* side effects unless you got one with hormones added. That was one reason I liked it.
Actually I believe you are thinking of Novasure, which is ablation, but Essure is a form of sterilization. They take these two coil things and place them in your fallopian tubes and then you cant get pregnant. That's about all I know on them, which is why I was wondering if it was safe and whatnot. I cant get the IUD, well I could, but Im really freaked out about the side effects of it and I really cant do any hormonal birth control because it just throws me completely off balance, on a couple to the point of contemplating suicide.
I just really dont want to have to wait that long just for him to make the appointment and then who knows how long before he actually gets the procedure done and by then I could be pregnant.
Essure is ablation, am I correct? It is NOT NOT NOT birth control.
The connection between having an ablation and not getting pregnant is that if you have an ablation, you have to take absolute steps not to get pregnant. If you were to accidentally get pregnant after having your uterine lining destroyed, the embryo can burrow into the uterine muscles themselves, with life-threatening consequences to you. Doctors are OK on communicating that a uterus cannot safely support a pregnancy after an ablation, but they are seemingly not OK on explaining to women that it is she, not the Essure, that must secure that protection from getting pregnant. In other words, you have to tie your tubes or get an IUD or go on the pill and never have it fail.
Have your husband get the vasectomy. It is simpler, safer, and the way to go given what you are describing. Is there anything wrong with getting an IUD in the meantime?
