How Long after......

I am a man, 20 years old. I am asking this is reference to my girlfriend. I am just curious as to how long after stopping birth control do young women(women in general) start to ovulate? I am curious because she is on a trip and might stop taking them and/or take them very irregularly and stop altogether when she comes back in a couple weeks. If she were to stop let's say 5 days before she were to come back home, how long after that would she be able to get pregnant? I have heard mixed things pertaining to this matter; (weeks, months, years in older women etc.)
